Johanna was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama (Roll Tide!) and moved to the San Luis Valley in March of 2020 to be a prosecutor. She has been proud to call the Valley home since then. Beginning her career in August of 2017 with Fidelity National Title Group, she gained experience in real property, contract, business, insurance, and agency law. In fact, her first year practicing was spent finding responsible parties - often attorneys - for title issues, which makes Johanna adept at knowing how to address legal problems from a big picture perspective. Rather than focus on addressing the immediate problem, Johanna always strives to ensure the solution she crafts for her clients will not negatively affect them in ways that may not be apparent at first glance. Johanna also has a sound mind for business and finances and understands the financial stressors of litigation. She uses this expertise to be particularly mindful of clients' financial situation to keep costs down when necessary.
As a former prosecutor, Johanna has litigated many hearings and trials, and has prosecuted serious felonies, including homicides. She has appeared in every court house in the Valley and is familiar with the clerks and judges. When it is time to litigate, Johanna is who you want on your side. She also brings her background in legal research to ensure she is as prepared as possible for her clients. and is very familiar with the Rules of Evidence. During her year in private practice as an Associate Attorney, she handled many divorces and post-decree matters, as well as prosecuting and defending restraining orders. When it is time to litigate, Johanna is who you want on your side.
In her free time, Johanna is active in the Young Professionals of Alamosa and enjoys hiking, camping, roller skating, kick boxing, and spending time with her cats and dogs. She is also active in the legal community, serving as president of the San Luis Valley Bar Association and is a Board of Governors Representative for the Colorado Bar Association.
